The Decorating Frenzy...and Clyde (of course)

I've found that it's easiest to snap pictures of Clyde while he's sleeping.  When he's awake, he's usually out of the frame by the time I get the shot off.

He's been picking some interesting places to take his naps.  I had a picture of him snuggling with slippers in my previous post; the shoe theme continues....
with Erin's sneakers....

with mine.......

and with Sean's.  I'm glad he doesn't play favorites.

On Thanksgiving, we went to my parents' house in Connecticut.  He managed to find a cozy spot to take his nap.

I've been trying to get some photos of Gus and Clyde together, but from the moment I think, "Oh, they look so cute together, let me get my camera," to the moment I take the shot

this is what happens.

This is one of the few shots I have with the two of them in the same frame.  I have no idea what is going on here.  If I had to caption it, Gus would be saying,

"Yeah, my treat was good, and so was yours.  Ya snooze, ya lose, pipsqueak."

I started my annual decorating frenzy on the day after Thanksgiving.  My game has lost a step or two.  For twenty-plus years I've always managed to get the decorating done by the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  I'm wondering how I did it.

So far, I've managed to make the outside of my house look festive.  I've changed the window boxes from fall-themed

 to Christmas

and added a wreath and some planters on the front steps.

But it stops there, as anyone who stopped by this weekend can tell you.  You may think that because I appear to be ahead of the decorating game on the outside, that the inside might be decorated as well.  But when you step through my front doors you are greeted by this:
I debated posting this messy picture and decided to just go with it.  Keeping it real, you know?   I'm waiting for these boxes to magically empty themselves, but it's not happening.

I did the easy stuff, like switching pillows.
Oh, that really made a dent in my decorating.

I'm going to join Sue's REDnesday blog party at "It's A Very Cherry World!"  Hop on over for lots of Red!
I threw together a quick mantel display.  Note to self: get some flowers for those empty flowerpots and a stocking for Clyde.

I still have 3 naked trees and lots of shelves and tabletops to go.

I'm sure I'd get a lot more done, if I weren't so caught up
with watching my puppy sleep.

  1. Awe...Clyde is just the cutest! (Gus is as well of course!). Yes, puppies sure can be hard to take a photo of. I know with our family dogs, I would have to take 20 pictures, just to get one non-blurry one..haha
The front of your house looks so festive, lovely decorated mantle as well. I still have to bring mine down from the attic (well really that is hubby's job :P). I can't wait to get sorted though..
    Have a lovely day x

  3. What a sweet little pup! I feel the same way every time I try to take a picture of our cat. When I wanted to get pics of her in her birthday hat and witch costume, I had to start two weeks in advance before I got shots I was happy with!
Your outdoor decorations are GORGEOUS, and so is your mantle! Hoping my husband will bring our tree down from the attic this weekend....

  4. OH! Ga ga for Goldens over here! Love your precious little Clyde. Adore the picture with Clyde and his big brother Gus, so cute.

Your leagues ahead of me! You're well on your way and I've nary a thought in my head. Love your porch, so festive and pretty.

    Happy Holiday Rednesday!

  5. Oooohh, so precious! I go away a couple days and miss all the puppy stuff. Just love this post! Wish I could nuzzle Clyde through the computer, LOL! So Gus likes him ok? Love the pipsqueak comment. I think Clyde thinks sleeping on your shoes and kinda like sleeping with a pile of other puppies. Aw!

Love the pillows on your sofa, what a great Christmas decorating idea! & the window boxes too. Hey, at least your boxes of decorations are pulled out, sigh, mine aren't. Hugs to Gus & Clyde!

  7. Oh Fran I just want to reach in, grab Clyde and snuggle with him. He is such a little fluffy ball of fur. Love his shoe fetish! The picture of him looking up at his (big brother) is just too cute! I am almost finished decorating, but my home looked just like that. I love your window box and front porch. Looks very festive! Can't wait to see more!
    Hugs,
    Jann
