Apple Tart with Ice Cream

  • 3 baking apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ready-made pie crust
egg white, for brushing onto crust
vanilla ice cream, for topping the warm tart

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Gather your ingredients.

Line a baking pan with parchment.  Unroll your pie crust and place it on the parchment.  It's okay if the pie crust hangs over the edge, you will be folding it up momentarily.

In a small bowl, place the sugar,

flour,

and cinnamon.

Stir to combine, and then set aside.

Peel and slice your apples.  After peeling, cut the four sides off of the apple.

Place the cut apples flat side down on a cutting board and slice them, taking care to make sure that the slices are fairly equal in thickness.

You should end up with about 3 cups of sliced
apples.

Place the apple slices into a large bowl and pour the sugar/cinnamon mixture over them.

Stir to coat the apples.

Place them in a mound in the center of your pie crust.

Fold up the sides of the tart, starting on one side and working  your way around.

Mix the egg white with about 1 tablespoon of water.

Brush the egg white onto the crust.  Place it into your preheated 400-degree oven and bake it for 40 minutes.

Cut it into wedges and serve while it's still warm, topped by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

 Enjoy!
